Pie season is upon us! Outside of the classic apple and pumpkin pie, there likely is not a more widely adored holiday dessert than pecan pie. Here are four quick tips that’ll make this year’s pie the best yet.
1. Mind your eggs: Extra large eggs tend to be too much for pecan pie, and medium just isn’t enough. Use large eggs instead.
2. Avoid a mess: Coat your measuring cup with oil, or spritz with non-stick cooking spray before measuring your corn syrup.
3. Patience is key: Be sure to allow your pie to cool completely before cutting. A warm pie will not be set, and your slices will not hold a clean edge.
4. Cut calories: Substitute a reduced calorie corn syrup for the regular stuff, such as Karo’s Lite corn syrup.
