Scalloped potatoes are a classic Christmas side dish. Here’s an easy and delicious recipe for you to try this year. air it with crab or prime rib, or, really, almost any traditional Christmastime meal. Yum! Who doesn’t love layers and layers of thinly sliced potatoes in a decadent cream sauce?
- 3 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- ½ yellow onion, diced
- 1½ Tbsp flour
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp dried tarragon
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 Tbsp butter
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Peel potatoes then slice potatoes very thin.
Dice onion and cut up butter into cubes.
In a casserole dish, line the bottom with potatoes, then layer with a few pieces of cubed butter, diced onions, and then another layer of thinly sliced potatoes. In between each layer, sprinkle a little bit of the flour. Repeat this process till casserole dish is full.
Pour one cup of heavy cream in the potatoes, then sprinkle dried tarragon and dried thyme on top. Season with salt and pepper.
Place in the oven for 1 hour. Serve and enjoy.
