I’ve had to make my peace with how easy beer bread is. It just doesn’t seem natural for something so good to take only five minutes to throw together. After all, I like the fact that my favorite yeast rolls take hours, and slow cooking pork shoulder for hours gives you the best results, so where in my brain am I supposed to fit this killer five-minute bread?
I guess I’ll just have to make the world’s best grilled cheese and think it over.
Loaded Bacon Cheddar Beer Bread
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 4 strips bacon, cooked and chopped
- 2 large jalapenos, chopped, seeds removed
- 2½ tsp baking powder
- 12 oz wheat beer
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Preheat oven to 375.
In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, half of the chopped cooked bacon (reserve half for the top), jalapenos, cheese, and baking powder.
Stir in 2 Tbsp melted butter and 12 oz beer until just combined.
Pour into a 1.5 qt loaf pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Pour the remaining 2 Tbsp melted butter over the top.
Sprinkle with remaining bacon.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top has turned golden brown.
Makes 1 loaf.
