I truly love parties and after many years working so hard to be the perfect hostess, I have found an appreciation for simplicity. This led me to discover the perfect party formula. Simple and delicious food + fabulous party = the perfect affair. Having time to mingle and less stress really makes your get-together more enjoyable, even for the consummate hostess.
Taco bar parties are one of my all time favorites. Just about everyone loves a good taco, and a bar filled with toppings, fillings and taco bowls will put a smile on the faces of adults and kids alike. These taco bowls even make my toddler sing. Seriously! She sings the “more taco for baby” song while she is eating. Turkey taco bowls that are 20 minutes prep to plate make me sing too.
Cutting back on red meat, but think turkey is dry? This is the perfect recipe to give lean turkey a try–the taco seasoning liquid makes your turkey moist, flavorful and delicious.

A Fun Twist on Tacos: 20-Minute Turkey Taco Bowls
- 4 burrito-size flour tortillas
- Non-stick cooking spray
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 Tbsp New Mexico chili powder
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp fresh ground black pepper
- ½ cup water
- Mild cheddar cheese, shredded
- Sour cream
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a 10” skillet over medium high heat, cook ground turkey until brown.
Meanwhile: Microwave tortillas until they are soft and pliable (about 30 seconds). Turn a 12 cup standard muffin tin upside down and lightly spray with non-stick spray. Form tortillas into a bowl-like shape, between gaps in muffin cups (3 per muffin tin). Bake for 10 minutes or until they start to brown.
Add spices and water to browned turkey, stir to combine. Cover with lid. Cook until liquid is almost absorbed.
Prepare toppings: Chop tomato and thinly slice lettuce. Place toppings into small serving bowls. Divide ground turkey into taco bowls. Serve and enjoy!
Party tips: Serve chips, salsa and guacamole to round out your Mexican flavors. Frozen Margaritas are a great way to cool down in the summer heat, are a very fun addition to your adults only party and are so easy to make. Throw your ingredients in your blender and make a whole pitcher at a time.
