When it comes to me and s’mores, there is no love missing.
I am going to tell you something embarrassing. I think we all have an embarrassing snack or treat that we consume—a dessert that is sort of humiliating because of what it contains or what it takes to get there.
At one point in my life, I may have considered a spoonful of peanut butter dipped in a bag of chocolate chips semi-embarrassing, then I was like WHAT! Everyone does that. I’m so not alone.
But this—this snack I’m about to tell you about? Horrifying. I went through a period when I was so sincerely obsessed with s’mores that I would combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a bowl. On top of that, I’d place some mini marshmallows or marshmallow Fluff–whatever I had on hand. Then on top of THAT would go some chocolate. Chocolate chips, chocolate bars, chocolate whatever.
Then I’d eat it with a spoon. Talk about desperation. Called it my white trash s’mores bowl.
I don’t know what it is about s’mores, but I have been fanatical since childhood. I just love them so freaking much. I love every- and anything s’mores. I love all the recently trashed-up recipes with s’mores flavors. I live for them.
This is one. Helllllo, trashy shakes!
Campfire S’mores Hot Fudge Shake
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1⁄3 cup hot fudge
- 1⁄3 cup marshmallow crème
- 1⁄3 cup graham cracker crumbs, plus extra for garnish
- Whipped cream, for serving
- 2 jumbo marshmallows
Add the milk, ice cream, hot fudge, marshmallow crème, and graham crumbs to a blender and puree until smooth. Pour the shake into two glasses and top with whipped cream. If desired, quickly toast the jumbo marshmallows under the broiler, over a burner on your gas stove, or with a kitchen torch. Place the marshmallows on top of the whipped cream and sprinkle the shakes with extra graham crumbs.
